(specific area message encoding) receiver, you can stay up to date on what’s happening in your county, parish, independent city, or marine area. Whenever the NWS (National Weather Service) broadcasts a warning, watch, or non-weather emergency, it also broadcasts a digital SAME code. Your S.A.M.E. receiver will turn on if that code affects the area that you programmed into your weather radio, then you will hear an attention signal followed by the broadcast message. Our Programmable Weather Alert Radios come with 23 to 25 programmable county codes and are public alert certified. The Midland WR-300C has 7 N.O.A.A (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) channels, date, time, and alarm clock as well as a built in AM/FM digital radio.
